about
Everyone is faced with some form of adversity in their lives. It's that adversity which makes us stronger, and can bring people together to create invaluable connections. It's the hardships and tragedies is in life that reveal to us how resilient the human spirit can be, as well as make us realize how precious life truly is.
That is what this song is about.
I wrote Black To Blue shortly after being told I was cancer free in 2010. As many of you know I had a type of Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma called Burkitt's Lymphoma. Burkitt's is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. Because of that it can sometimes go misdiagnosed. That is why spreading awareness about this disease is so important. The Burkitt's Lymphoma Society is a wonderful organization which promotes awareness as well as supports those affected by it. It has helped me through my journey and is a cause that is very dear to my heart. It was also being a part of this group which lead me to meet survivor Zach Ariah. After speaking with Zach and learning that he is also a musician, I asked him if he would like to play bass on the song. With the chances of getting this type of cancer literally being 1 in a million, it was very special to be able to connect with another survivor to work together on this track.
With that being said, I am very excited for this release. The song is only $1, and all funds will be going towards the Burkitt's Lymphoma Society.
From black skies to blue skies, I hope you enjoy.

lyrics
Welcome to a world that’s new with chapters never seen, flipping through the pages of me and you and who we used to be, now like the others we see all the colours brighter than before, we keep our thoughts with those we’ve lost and pray there won’t be more
With hearts and bones stronger than you’d ever know cuz we don’t go down without a fight, while keeping safe all of the fears we face that we otherwise would never know oh how we have grown
Where there once was a void now lays an ocean wide, through thick and thin it’s filled to the brim and has ever changing tides, now like the others we see all the colours change from black to blue, forever more will wash to shore the things that we’ve been through
With hearts and bones stronger than you’d ever know cuz we don’t go down without a fight, while keeping safe all of the fears we face that we otherwise would never know oh how we have grown
